Terms of Use
Last updated: 2026-07-04
By creating an account or using this software (“Helper”) you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use it. Please also read the Privacy Policy and the disclaimer.
1. What Helper is — and is not
Helper is a personal record-keeping tool. It is not legal, financial, accountancy, tax, or employment advice, and it is not a substitute for the Hong Kong Employment Ordinance or guidance issued by the Hong Kong Labour Department. Nothing here creates any professional relationship.
2. Figures may be wrong or out of date
Any statutory figure (for example the Minimum Allowable Wage or food / meal allowance) shown in the interface or referenced in the source is an illustrative placeholder and may be outdated. You must verify every figure, date, and entitlement against official sources before relying on it.
3. Eligibility & authority
You must be at least 18 and have the authority to act for the party you represent. Employers enter personal data about their helper and must do so lawfully and with the helper’s knowledge.
4. Your account
Keep your login credentials confidential. You are responsible for activity under your account. Notify the operator immediately of any unauthorised use.
5. Your responsibilities
- Comply with all applicable Hong Kong laws, including the Employment Ordinance and your obligations under the standard Employment Contract (ID 407) for foreign domestic helpers.
- Treat Helper as a convenience only — not a guaranteed legal record. You remain responsible for keeping any records the law requires you to keep.
- Enter accurate data; verify every amount, date, and entitlement before acting on it.
- Process your helper’s personal data lawfully and in line with the PDPO (see the Privacy Policy).
6. Acceptable use
You will not misuse the service, attempt to access data you are not entitled to, enter unlawful or infringing content, or disrupt the service. All access is enforced server-side by role.
7. No warranty
Helper is licensed under the Apache License, Version 2.0 and is provided “AS IS” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, or non-infringement. The authors and contributors do not warrant that the service is accurate, reliable, timely, or uninterrupted.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, neither the authors, contributors, licensor, nor the operator of an instance shall be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of income or goodwill, arising from your use of, or inability to use, Helper — even if advised of the possibility of such damages.
9. Intellectual property
The Helper source code is licensed under the Apache License 2.0 (see the repository LICENSE). You retain all rights in the data you enter.
10. Third-party links
References or links to government or other third-party sites are for convenience only and are not endorsements. We are not responsible for their content.
11. No government affiliation
Helper is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the Hong Kong Government, the Labour Department, or the Immigration Department.
12. Changes to the service & these Terms
The operator may change or discontinue the service at any time. We may update these Terms; continued use after a change constitutes acceptance. The “Last updated” date above reflects the latest version.
13. Termination
You may stop using Helper at any time. The operator may suspend or restrict access if these Terms are breached or to protect the service.
14. Governing law & disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. The parties will first try to resolve any dispute in good faith, and failing that, submit to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the Hong Kong courts.
